Classic Stage Company has announced its 2011-2012 season, which will include a trio of classic plays starring Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth, Oscar winners F. Murray Abraham and Dianne Wiest and John Turturro. All productions will be mounted at CSC's off-Broadway home on East 13th Street.
Wiest and Turturro will kick off the season as Lopakhin and Madame Ranevskaya in Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, directed by Andrei Belgrader. The play will run November 9-December 18, representing the final production in CSC’s Chekhov cycle (after The Seagull, Uncle Vanya and Three Sisters).
F. Murray Abraham will star in Bertolt Brecht’s Galileo, directed by CSC artistic director Brian Kulick. The play will run February 1-March 11, 2012.
Finally, Addams Family star Bebe Neuwirth has signed on to play fairy queen Titania in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Tony Speciale. The production will begin performances on March 28 and run through May 6.
